County publishes potential housing allocations9.40.00am BST (GMT +0100) Thu 15th May 2008 As part of the move to a single Wiltshire Council (WC) the next round of housing allocations in West Wilts is now being considered by the County Council. This is in parallel to the 'Issues and Options' consultation recently undertaken by the district. Possible sites for over 12,000 dwellings in the period up to 2016 are being looked at. The sites in the Hilperton Gap have been identified as 'Priority 1', or most likely sites for development, despite the high level of objection received recently from local residents on both sides of the Gap. Individual sites will still have to go through the normal planning procedure, though there is still some uncertainty about the way the process of deciding which sites should be allocated for housing in the first place will happen following the demise of the districts. For more information go to http://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/services/hlaahome.php The report is published in full as is the list of sites. Detail on individual sites is however difficult to access. Watch this space for more, and in the meantime please contact me if you'd like a hard-copy guide on how to get more information from the County Council's database
