The London 2012 Organising Committee has been in touch to point out the potential for businesses in the South West to get involved.

Already 56 firms in the region have won contracts and there are many more sub-contracts. 885 schools and colleges are taking part in the games' education programme and 92 community events were held during open weekends in 2008 and 2009.

The Kenyan team will be based in the region and the GB Paralympics team will be using the South West's facilities.

There are still business opportunities and chances for schools and community groups to get involved - go to the website below for details.

Please also get in touch if you happen to be able to run very fast - there may be a job for you.

The Bowerhill centre will be an official training facility for the games. They've had to undergo numerous inspections to determine whether the school can offer the appropriate level of facilities for international gymnasts. The club now goes into a brochure for competing countries to consider when arranging their training schedules - West Wilts is likely to host either one large national team or two smaller ones.

The South West Regional Development Agency has appointed Guy Lavender to the post of regional director for the 2012 games, with the remit of making the most of south-west England's contribution by building cultural links, boosting tourism, encouraging new investment in sport and looking for potential sites for pre-games training camps.

At national level London 2012, the website devoted to the forthcoming Olympic Games, has launched an e-alert service for businesses. By registering for the service, for which there is no charge, you can keep up to date with new tender opportunities, key appointments and business events related to the 2012 Olympics.

So if you see a business opportunity and aren't sure how to develop it get in touch now, because the rest of the country is thinking the same and we need to take advantage of Wiltshire's natural and human assets to make the most of the Games!
