A question for you .... what do all these words or phrases have in common .... 'cautiously welcome', 'predictors of beaconicity', 'strategic priorities', worklessness' and 'under-capacitated? Well these and many others are on the Local Government Association list of banned words released today on the LGA website. Will there be cashable benefits from this tranche of learning outcomes, you may well ask. Or might it be an improvement lever for a more meaningful trialogue with our tenants and residents?

Warminster's Conservatives have voted to take out an £800,000 loan to revamp the Assembly Room. Liberal Democrat Paul Batchelor was the only town councillor to vote against the proposal.

An extensive maintenance scheme is being carried out by the Highways Agency from east of Mere to the junction with the B3089. The work involves repair and strengthening of the road, repair of drainage and installation of new safety barriers. The road will also be widened by a metre where possible, to assist with drainage and provide additional space for breakdowns and maintenance.

Porton Down is currently the site for Health Protection Agency's "Centre for Emergency Preparedness and Response" at which internationally significant research into new diseases is undertaken. The total site covers 27 hectares with employment of 750 scientific, technical and administrative staff. The value to the economy is demonstrated by the fact that the direct impact of the employment of scientific/technical staff is estimated at over £70,000 per head (GWE Business West Ltd.).

Here's a piece of advice. If you're looking for somewhere to live remember that once in 100 year floods now happen all the time, and whereas new houses in roads called "Riverside View" or "Waterside Mews" might sound idyllic, sometimes a better name might be "Noah's Close"
